Dr. Gilbert brings more than 35 years of research, regulatory, and legal consulting experience to every engagement. Her scientific career spans bench research, lab direction, and federally funded studies on the human health impacts of trichloroethylene (TCE) and related toxicants, supported by both the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). She is an active member of the Society of Toxicology and has reviewed grants for the NSF, EPA, and NIH, as well as manuscripts for more than 30 peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Gilbert was a founding member of the EPA's Scientific Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC), established under the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (an amendment to TSCA). During her tenure, she provided independent expert opinions on the human health risks of TCE, perchloroethylene, carbon tetrachloride, methylene chloride, 1-bromopropane, n-methyl pyrrolidone, 1,4-dioxane, pigment violet 29, cyclic aliphatic bromide cluster, and others. She has been invited to review TCE-related health risk documents by the National Research Council, the National Academy of Sciences, and the NIH's National Toxicological Program, a reflection of her standing in the field.
Her publication record includes 13 book chapters and more than 70 peer-reviewed articles, over 30 of which address the health effects of TCE or its metabolites. Her research has encompassed molecular, cellular, and epigenetic immunotoxicity; developmental and neurotoxicity; and the effects of toxicants on the gut microbiome. Since retiring as a tenured Full Professor from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2017, Dr. Gilbert has focused on litigation consulting including writing causation expert reports, and participating in depositions, trials, and hearings.

Sarah Gilbert is an experienced journalist and communications professional. She holds a degree from the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri. Over a decade of freelance journalism, including work for the Associated Press, Gothamist, and Jezebel, honed her ability to translate complicated subjects into clear, compelling narratives. Her reporting has spanned local government, civil rights, women's issues, arts and culture, and indigenous affairs, and has included interviews with notable public figures such as Hillary Clinton, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson.
Sarah brings that same discipline to environmental risk communication. She has developed public-facing materials on environmental health risks associated with AI data center development, which have been used at municipal meetings to inform both community members and local officials. Her background in public relations, including media relations work for a New York City agency, adds strategic value when clients need to manage complex, high-stakes public narratives.
